Mental & Spiritual Decisions
Logically Speaking: Isn’t it better to look forward optimistically instead of back bitterly?
Yes, It’s right-wise and joy promoting to fill our mind with optimism and confidence… it’s foolish and unpleasant to (as Lot’s wife Edith did) look back at pains suffered and nurture memories of injuries others have caused us. Edith was turned into a pillar of salt when she looked back. When I think of that, it reminds me of someone pickled - preserved in a bitter or sour solution. Forgiveness releases us from Edith's fate. Set your day in a direction of confidence and joy, release others from those grudges that sour our soul. Lighten your load, sweeten your day... Forgive those that have injured you, then, as Paul put's it in Philippians 4:4 - "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, (make your plea) and request, with thanksgiving (in your heart), present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in (and with the power of) Christ Jesus." If you and I did that today, would it be sweet or what?
